Chief Fiduciary Officer (St. Petersburg)

Sabal Trust Company, Florida’s largest independent trust company, is seeking a Chief Fiduciary Officer for our corporate headquarters, located in St. Petersburg, Florida. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing administration of fiduciary accounts and ensuring compliance with all Florida statutes, tax code and internal policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be the subject matter expert on fiduciary topics and have in-depth knowledge of Sabal’s fiduciary practices, policies and procedures.
  • Oversee company-wide Trust Committee structure which reviews new, existing and closed account administration including discretionary actions.
  • Interface with the trust company Board of Directors on fiduciary matters.
  • Manage fiduciary litigation cases in conjunction with corporate legal counsel.
  • Serve as a role-model and a mentor to team members.
  • Contribute fiduciary knowledge to ensure compliance with applicable laws, internal policies, and the terms of the governing instrument.
  • Communicate with colleagues, attorneys, CPAs, financial planners and other wealth management professionals about account administration, fiduciary matters, and tax impact.
  • Act as liaison with audit and regulators to facilitate examination of the fiduciary processes.
  • Support internal relationship management teams in trust administration, estate settlement and the execution of their duties.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Minimum of 15+ years in Trust Administration with a track record showing progressive growth of responsibilities as well as stability.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity within the trust and estate administration.
  • College degree required / CTFA or JD is highly recommended.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates with trust and estate administration experience in the state of Florida.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to colleagues, business partners and management.
  • Strong client relationship management skills.
  • Familiarity with estate and financial planning, trust and estate law, litigation, and regulatory compliance procedures.
  • Ability to deal directly with attorneys.
  • Willingness to share fiduciary knowledge and to be an example to others.
  • Exceptional work ethic, integrity, team spirit and judgment.
  • Sound understanding of compliance matters with a focus on governmental regulations and internal policies.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Office programs.
